The Savvy Villa Traveller

Last August, we were in Jamaica during Hurricane Dean. Other than a few broken branches and lots of leaves on the tennis court, we had no damage to speak of. That said, we had no electricity for about a week! Candlelight dinners are lovely and romantic but a week without electricity is a bear! Fortunately we were there and not paying guests. Also, we were lucky that we were able to store food with friends nearby who were fortunate enough to have electricity. We were determined to not experience such an event again and … we have now installed our very own back-up power generator! We are so excited. We hope we don’t have to use it but we are no longer worried about if and when the electric company with turn off power without warning. It is not infrequent for power to be cut off arbitrarily and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done. One just has to go with the flow. Well not any more. We have some control! This is so exciting for us. This is just one more thing that we have done to increase and improve on the level of service that we provide our guests at Mais Oui. No longer do we have to worry that loss of power will interfere with the well-deserved vacation of our guests. A good thing only keeps getting better!
